Your first portfolio project does not need to prove everything. It needs to show one relevant skill, a clear decision process, and a finished outcome.
Choose one audience and one problem
A narrow brief creates better evidence. Define who the work helps, what they are trying to do, and what “better” would look like.
Show decisions, not decoration
Include the brief, constraints, alternatives you considered, feedback you used, and what you would improve next. This is more credible than a gallery with no context.
Publish the learning
Write a short case study even if the result is imperfect. Finishing creates a foundation you can revise.
